Program description for doctoral studies in Vehicle and Maritime Engineering

Sweden has a long and successful tradition in the field of vehicle and maritime engineering, in both the civilian and military sectors. The industry spans a wide range, with research, development and manufacture of trucks, forestry and agricultural machinery, passenger cars, buses, ships, boats, tracked vehicles, trains, trams and aircraft. Large quantities of equipment and partial systems are developed and made for these by domestic suppliers.

The doctoral program (third-cycle) is intended as one continuation of the educational structures created within the Master’s programmes Vehicle Engineering, Naval Architecture, Engineering Mechanics or equivalent programs at other universities. The doctoral program is intended to support the student by forming the study environment, generate affiliation, spread information, monitor progress and organize various activities. Organization

The program is organized by the program director. To ensure participation the program also has a program committee consisting of students and representatives from all research fields.

Formal issues and authority such as approval of candidates for new positions, appointing of supervisors, revision and approval of individual study plans, appointment of chairman, opponent, evaluation committee, time and place for the public defense etc are handled by the director of PhD studies at the School of Engineering Sciences.

Administration

Pure administrative matters are handled by the educational office (utbildningskansli SCI).
